Checkra1n jailbreak

The first public release of checkra1n, a jailbreak tool based on the checkm8 exploit, is now available. The tool is still very much under development and carries the beta tag to indicate that. It is still a bit unstable and you are likely going to encounter a few lingering bugs as well.

Checkra1n is a semi-tethered jailbreak tool meaning it requires you to have access to a PC to start the jailbreak process. For now, the tool is only available for macOS and there is no word on when a Windows version will be released. The tool supports all iPhones and iPads up until the iPhone X. However, the current beta (v0.9) lacks support for the iPad Air 2, 5th gen. iPad, and the 1st gen iPad Pro. Compatibility with the iPhone 5s, iPhone mini 2, iPad mini 3, and iPad Air is also in experimental stages.

This is the first time in years that we are getting a jailbreak based on a bootrom exploit. The beauty of this is that it will work on all iPhones and iPads that have the exploit. In this case, all iPhones and iPads up until the iPhone X are supported.

Checkra1in supports jailbreaking all releases of iOS and iPadOS starting from iOS 12.3 to iOS 13.2.2 — the latter being the very latest public release of iOS 13. It is also the first jailbreak tool that can is compatible with iOS 13.

Checkra1n is currently only compatible with Cydia package manager, though the team is working on adding support for other package managers. The good thing is that whenever the support lands, it won’t require a checkra1n update. You can download the checkra1n jailbreak tool for macOS by hitting the download link below.
