Now that Apple has released iOS 13, you should go ahead and install it straight away on your iPhone. It is always a good idea to take a backup of your device before updating it with the latest iOS software update. (Note that if you choose to encrypt your backup using iTunes, along with normal data, secure information like passwords etc. are also backed up.)

You can back up your iOS device using iTunes or iCloud. If you need help, follow our step-by-step guide by clicking on the appropriate link below.

Note: Since this is a major iOS software update, I would strongly recommend taking an iTunes backup so you have the option to restore back with iOS 12 compatible backup data.

Install iOS 13 on iPhone Via OTA

If your iPhone is running iOS 12.4, you can simply update to the stable release of iOS 13 by downloading the OTA update. This process is easy and only requires that you have access to a high-speed Wi-Fi connection.

Simply head over to Settings -> General -> Software update on your iPhone. The iOS 13 OTA update should be available for download. Go ahead and start downloading it but make sure that your iPhone has more than 50% charge and its connected to a fast Wi-Fi network.

Due to the initial rush, the download process might be slow. You can wait for a few hours for the rush to subside or go ahead with the download.
