iOS 10 has been out for quite a while and many of us are already enjoying the awesome new features that it provides such as Lock screen widgets, iMessage effects and Raise to Wake.

With every new iteration of iOS, the operating system is getting more polished and feature-rich, which makes jailbreaking less exciting. But there are still many reasons left as to why a jailbreak for iOS 10 is still needed. In this article, we will go through the 8 solid reasons why we want a jailbreak for iOS 10.

1. App Enhancements

One of the best reasons of having a jailbreak is adding new functionality to stock and third-party apps and getting rid of the restrictions imposed. In the case of Pokemon Go, you can install jailbreak tweaks that will allow you to move around the map using a joystick rather than walking physically.

The Cydia store is filled with lots of tweaks to enhance your experience using stock and third-party apps ranging from tweaks for Instagram that allow you to save photos and videos to your device to hacks for Snapchat that would allow you to view snaps as long as you want and save them to your Camera Roll.

2. File Manager

If there’s one important feature that is missing in iOS 10, that would be the file manager. Considering the closed ecosystem of iOS, it’s not a surprise why Apple hasn’t introduce this feature yet. But with the help of jailbreak, we can bring this feature to life.

iFile is a complete file manager tweak that allows you to view system files and folders as well as edit them right from your iPhone. You can also save files that you download from the internet.

3. Themes

Jailbreaking will allow you customize your iOS device in every way possible. You can install themes to change the look and feel of your iPhone or you can use Winterboard that allows you to transform your iPhone into an Android phoneor transform your iPad into a Mac. Jailbreak tweaks also let you add a 5-icon dockadditional row of keys to iOS’ virtual keyboardchange the carrier logo and lots more.

You can change app icons that annoy you to better versions, designed by people from the community. You can check our post on the perfect jailbroken iPhone to get an idea of how you can customize your device.

4. Get Exclusive New iOS 10 Features on Older Devices

How many of you were disappointed to find out that the new ‘Raise to Wake’ feature in iOS 10 is limited to the iPhone 6s and above? Cydia developers are quick in porting new features to older devices. We have already seen tweaks on Cydia that bring 3D Touch functionality to older devices as well as Picture-in-Picture mode.

By having a jailbreak for iOS 10, there’s no doubt that someone will port Raise to Wake feature to older devices. In fact, there is already a jailbreak tweak called ProximityLock that uses the iPhone’s Proximity Sensor to lock and unlock your device.

5. Prevent access to apps and folders

When your iPhone falls into the wrong hands, there are chances that your private information will be viewed without your permission. Thanks to awesome jailbreak tweaks in Cydia such as AspheliaBioLockdown & BioProtect, you can lock apps and folders on your device with Touch ID or passcode and prevent unauthorized people from accessing them.

6. Change System Font

BytaFont 2 allows you change the system font on your jailbroken iPhone. It allows you to change the font in apps, Lock screen, and more.

7. Emulators

8. Set Default apps

One of the major limitations of iOS is the lack of an option to set your favorite third-party app as the default app. Thankfully jailbreak tweaks like MapsOpener, allow you to set Google Maps as the default app instead of Apple’s Maps app and BrowserChooser allow you to change the default browser.

These are some of the best reasons why we believe a jailbreak for iOS 10 is needed. There’s no legit news yet about the progress of an iOS 10 jailbreak, but we will keep you updated as soon as we get any information.

If you own a device that is on iOS 9.2 – iOS 9.3.3, then the good news is that you can jailbreak it now. To find out how, read the following article:
