iOS 9 Release Date

iOS 9 release date

Apple is widely expected to unveil iOS 9, the next major update for its mobile operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch at the WWDC 2015 Keynote on Monday June 8th.

iOS 9, codenamed Monarch, is sounding like it will be an impressive update, even if the main focus of this release is for optimizations and enhancements behind the scenes.

It will also include support for Force Touch for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, redesigned keyboard and more granular control over read receipts in iMessage. We’ve also heard that iOS 9 will see a makeover for Siri, finally bring transit data for Apple Maps, while also bringing a new font – San Francisco – across the entire system to keep the aesthetic fresh.

Apple will most likely seed the first beta version of iOS 9 just after the keynote on June 8th. Apple recently started its iOS beta program, so we expect Apple to release a public beta version of iOS 9 as well. You can sign up for Apple’s Beta Software program by visiting Appleseed Beta testing site.

However, Apple will release iOS 9 to the public only later this fall. Apple usually releases a major iOS update couple of days before new iPhones are launched, which is usually in September.

Apple will announce the release date for iOS 9 at the iPhone event in September. However, based on historic information, iOS 9 release date could be in the third week of September.

If Apple follows the same release schedule as the last three years, then the iOS 9 release date could be on Wednesday, September 16. Please note that this is a speculation based on historic information.
