iOS 9 - Apple News app

When Apple announced its all-new News app alongside iOS 9 during the WWDC 2015 Keynote, it said that it would be available in the U.S., U.K. and Australia at launch. However, when Apple released iOS 9 on Wednesday, it was available only in the U.S.

According to rumors, the Apple News app may be available in U.K and Australia with iOS 9.1. However, if you can’t wait then there is an easy way to use the Apple News app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch right now.

Please note that this method involves changing the Region to United States which means that you will see miles and $ instead of kilometers and £ if you’re in the U.K. If you’re fine with that then follow the instructions below to get the Apple News app:

How to get Apple News app outside the U.S. in iOS 9

  • Launch the Settings app.
  • Navigate to General > Language & Region.
  • Tap on Region.

iOS 9 Apple News app - Set Region

  • Search or scroll down to United States and tap on it.

iOS 9 Apple News app - Set Region - Done

  • Tap on Done in the top right corner.
  • Tap on Change to English (United States) or Continue when you get a prompt asking you whether you would like to change the iPhone language to English (United States).
  • The screen will go blank for a few seconds.

That’s it. The region on your iPhone or iPad will now be set to United States and the Apple News app should be magically available on your device.
