How to take screenshots on your Apple Watch

If you’ve just bought an Apple Watch, and wondering how to take a screenshot then it is very simple.

The principle behind taking a screenshot on the Apple Watch is the same as the iPhone, the only difference is that, in case of the Apple Watch, the Side button acts like the Power button, and the Digital crown (the press) works like the Home button.

So you need to do the following to take a screenshot:

  • Press and hold the Side button.

  • Now without releasing the Side button, press the Digital Crown.

Note, you can also do it the other way around, but you could end up invoking Siri. You can also do it by pressing the buttons simultaneously but I’ve found it to be more error prone.

If you get it right, the screen will flash and it will take the screenshot. Unlike the iPhone however, the screenshots are not accessible directly on the Apple Watch. They’re synced to the camera roll on the iPhone, so you can find them under the Camera Roll or under All Photos if you’re using iCloud Photo Library in the Photos app on your iPhone.
