Being able to change your boot logo on your device has always been something jailbreakers have loved to do and it’s no different on iOS 7.  There was a redditor that requested a boot logo with a glitch effect for their device and another redditor by the name of “imeyeless” came through and brought the idea to life.

Unfortunately, this isn’t just a quick download and auto-install, you will have to work for it a little bit, but not too much. As of right now there are no iPad boot logos, but imeyeless stated yesterday he will create those today.  We will update this post if he does. If you’re on an iPhone 5s then you will have separate installation instructions, make sure you follow them carefully. There are 3 different tweaks you will need to download for all devices, after you’ve downloaded these, then follow the instructions according to your device:

• Animate
• Animate fix for iOS 7.x.x
• iFile

iPhone 4/4s/5, iPod Touch

Once you have these, give your device a respring and you should be able to see a new settings panel in Settings>Bootlogo.  Next, you’ll need to download the actual files to change the boot logo. Select the link under your device/color:

Once you’ve downloaded the the file on your device using safari you will be prompted with an “Open in iFile” button in the top right hand corner, tap on it.

• Once it opens in iFile you should get a menu, tap on “Unarchiver”
• When it’s done, tap “Done” then tap “Edit” and select the folder you unarchived. e.g. “Glitchy5sBlack”
• Tap the clipboard in the bottom right hand corner, and copy the link
• Now navigate to /Library/BootLogos
• Tap “Edit” and tap the clipboard again and “Paste” it in the folder.
• Close iFile

Now you can go into the settings.app and tap on “BootLogo”, select your new theme under “Extras”.  Then just reboot your device and you’ll be presented with the new glitchy-effect Apple boot logo.

iPhone 5s

Note: Since you’re unable to change the boot logo in the settings of your If you’re installing this on your iPhone 5s you will need to follow these instructions from a reddit post to get it to work properly since you are unable to change the boot logo in the settings on 64bit devices. Also, keep in mind if this is done incorrectly, you could get stuck in a reboot loop, so make sure you backup your device beforehand. If you get stuck, here’s how to fix it.

1. Start by downloading a boot logo from Cydia.
2. Navigate to /Library/BootLogos and create a new file called “org.chronic-dev.animate”
3. You will see a folder with the name of the boot logo you downloaded. Open the file you created in Text Editor, and paste the folder name.
4. Save the file
5. rename the file to add a .plist extention (“org.chronic-dev.animate.plist“) [iFile seems to give errors when you attempt to open the file while it has “.plist” in its name. This is why you need to add the extention when you’re done editing. Failure to do this can cause a boot loop.]
6. reboot your device. Enjoy
