A growing number of reports suggest some of the new animation features in iOS 7 are making people sick. People complain about  headaches and nausea  after using their phone for a short period of time. Other people are having a hard time adapting to the different fonts and transparent menus that grace Apple’s new version of iOS. If you are one of those people, follow most or all of these steps to lessen some of these more jarring changes in iOS 7.

Before we give you the good news, we need to start off with the bad news. There is no way to fully turn off animations on iOS 7. You can turn off the Parallax effect, which gives the homescreen that 3D look, but you cannot remove the zooming animations which seem to be giving people so much trouble. The good news is that there are some tweaks you can make to iOS to make it more palatable.

Reduce Motion on Your Home screen

You can disable the subtle motion of your Home screen and its icons by going to Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion.

Turn Off Dynamic Wallpapers

To minimize motion on your home screen, make sure you have a static wallpaper and not a dynamic one. Go to Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness and then tap on Choose Wallpaper. Be sure to select one of the wallpapers from the “Stills” category or from your own Photo Roll. Don’t even look at the ones in the Dynamic wallpaper category.

Increase the Font

iOS 7 ships with Helvetica Neue, which is a thin, light font that may be difficult to see for some folks. You can change the size of the text by going to Settings > General > Text Size. Drag the slider to make the text smaller or larger as needed.

A similar setting is found in the Accessibility settings (Settings > General > Accessibility > Larger Type). Just like with the text size settings above, you can drag a slider to adjust the size of the text. There’s also a toggle for “Larger Dynamic Type” if you need really big text. Please be aware that these text options and the “Text Size” will only appear in apps that support this dynamic text feature.

If bolder is what you want, you can turn on a Bold Text toggle in Settings > General > Accessibility. Changing this setting requires a restart of your phone, but it will give you a much bolder, thicker font.

Increase the Contrast to Remove Transparency

If those transparent menus are driving you nuts, then you can adjust them in the Accessibility settings. Just go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Increase Contrast and turn on this toggle.
