Couple of days back, iOS jailbreak developer Filippo Bigarella had released a Mac app called StifleStand that allowed users to hide the Newsstand on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch in a folder with a single click without the need to jailbreak the iOS device.

As promised, Bigarella has announced the availability of StifleStand for Windows users.

StifleStand was ported to Windows by SwissHttp.

You can follow these simple steps:

  • Download StifleStand for Windows from this link
  • Connect your iOS device to the computer
  • Right-click on the exe and select ‘Run as an Administrator’
  • Click on the Hide Newsstand button

That’s it, the app will hide Newsstand in a folder called Magic as seen in the screenshot below. You can rename the folder and even add apps to it just like a regular folder.

But it is important to note that launching the Newsstand app from the folder will crash the SpringBoard, so use this trick only if you don’t want to use Newsstand. If you want to undo the change, simply remove Newsstand from the folder.

StifleStand may not work if you’ve more than 100 apps installed on your iOS device. It also doesn’t show the preview icon of the Newsstand in the folder.

Let us know how it goes in the comments.
