The much awaited WinPwn tool 2.5 to jailbreak iPhone firmware 2.x including firmware 2.0.2 has been released.
The latest version of WinPwn tool comes with an all new user interface and also includes QuickPwn support, which is a quicker and easier jailbreaking method.
The iPhone Dev Team had recently released Pwnage Tool v2.0.3.1 to jailbreak iPhone firmware 2.0.2 but was only available for Mac users. WinPwn 2.5 is the Windows version of the Pwnage Tool.
WinPwn 2.5 can be used to jailbreak, unlock and activate iPhone running firmware 2.0, 2.0.1 and 2.0.2. It can also be used to jailbreak iPhone 3G running firmware 2.0, 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 but cannot unlock iPhone 3G. As you might already know, the iPhone Dev Team is still working on the software method to unlock iPhone 3G.
The latest version of the tool comes with an all new user interface and includes the following features:
- QuickPwn Support for iPhone firmware 2.0/2.0.1/2.0.2
- Root partition resize support
- Installer support
- Basic / Expert modes
- Wizard style interface
- Automatic updater
- Support for WinXP and Vista 32/64bit.
It also supports QuickPwn which uses the new jailbreaking process in which you can pwn your iPhone to jailbreak it without needing to restore it using iTunes making it quicker and easier.
It will also install the new and improved version of Installer app. You will no longer need to download the complete installer of WinPwn as it has an automatic updater feature.
You can use WinPwn in either Basic or Expert mode. The basic mode is like the easy mode where it uses default settings. All you need to do is build a custom firmware image and restore your iPhone using that custom firmware via iTunes.
The expert mode as the name suggests gives you more control over the process.

Q) There are no images in custom images online.
A) Try again later. The servers may be hammered and not responsive. This is a temporary issue.Q) It made my custom firmware and I cannot find it. Where is it?
A) You can search for .ipsw in the windows search box. It is probably in “my documents”. It starts with custom.Q) Winpwn crashes during creating a custom firmware (just closes out) and no firmware file is made.
A) Follow expert mode and up your partition size to 700mb.Q) I followed the steps and now my 3g no longer has service.
A) You probably selected activation during the process. You need iTunes to activate your 3g. Redo the steps.
