Now that we have a simpler way to jailbreak iPhone firmware it is probably a good time to bring focus back on some of the cool native iPhone Applications. I seemed to have missed out this great third party native iPhone application developed by iPhone hacker Shinya Kasatani called the PocketGuitar.

Its a virtual guitar for iPhone and iPod touch thus turning your iPhone or iPod Touch into a touchscreen guitar.

Before I get into details of the native iPhone Application developed by Shinya Kasatani it is important to mention here that to install PocketGuitar you will need to jailbreak your iPhone or iPod Touch. You can check out the Simpler method to JailBreak iPhone firmware 1.1.3 for more details as it also installs the very cool installer App which will make installing PocketGuitar on your iPhone a lot easier.

I don’t know how to play a guitar, but based on the video demonstration
(can be seen below) PocketGuitar seems quite a neat virtual guitar
without the worry of hurting your fingers after an intense solo session
on the touchscreen guitar.

You can put your fingers over the strings at the top, and then strum on the bottom to play notes and chords. Another cool feature is that not only can you play your own songs, but you can also play along with any stored music you have on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

You can checkout the video demonstration of PocketGuitar in action below (must say I was impressed):
